Farms and Feasting: Backroads of Byron Farmgate Tour
Bus tour of local farms in the ‘Backroads of Byron’
Time: 8.30am – 2.00pm
Come along and discover some of the finest local producers in the “Backroads of Byron”. This farmgate tour begins at The Byron at Byron Resort & Spa where we’ll meet and enjoy the sunshine before we prepare for a range of Sunday strolls through local farms. We’ll be taking in locally grown coffee, honey, pigs, chickens and macadamias – getting hands-on at the source, tantalising our culinary senses.
8.30am: Meet at The Byron at Byron Resort & Spa before we head off.
9.00am – 10.30am: Zentveld’s Coffee Plantation
At our first stop, in the rolling green pastures of Newrybar, we visit one of our region’s finest coffee producers. Check out truly sustainable coffee growing and enjoy a tour of the magnificent farm with flow hive bees in action, before tasting a truly local coffee grown from the trees you are standing amongst. Brunch will be served too! Delicious all local pastries, muesli, granola offerings with fresh fruit, local dairy and Zentveld’s own honey.
10.45 – 12.00pm: Duck Creek Macadamias
Next, we visit a very special macadamia farm – Duck Creek. Operating for 30 years, Duck Creek Macadamia’s pride themselves on being 100% Australian owned and operated, offering world class products including cold pressed oil, honey and sweet and savoury macadamias. Enjoy a tour of the farm and learn about the day to day running of the farm and factory. Then no tour would be complete without at least a small tasting of their products!
12.15pm – 1.15pm: Brooklet Springs Farm
Our final visit for the morning will be to Brooklet Springs Farm where we will be offered some very special farm secrets on organic chickens and why they are so much better for you and taste so good! Enjoy a BBQ sampler of these delectable goods.
2.00pm: Tour finishes and will drop off at The Byron at Byron Resort & Spa.
